Chardonnay is a popular white grape variety planted in most wine areas of the world. Its main characteristics is that of offering big luscious whites with a lot of complexity, weight and depth.

In the New World, it is most common to produce Chardonnays that are round, buttery and concentrated, with strong fruit flavors, whereas in the Old World, the wines tend to be more refined, elegant, crisp, and mineral.

This difference in style also applies for other white wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, although this wine is generally lighter in style with fresher aromas, herbaceous and delicate.
